History on this religious pendant: Apparitions to St. Catherine Labouré (1830)
In Paris, France, at the Chapel of the Daughters of Charity on Rue du Bac, a young novice named Catherine Labouré reported a series of Marian apparitions.

On November 27, 1830, the Virgin Mary allegedly appeared to Catherine and showed her a vision of a medal, and asked her to have it struck and distributed.
Mary appeared standing on a globe, rays of light streaming from her hands, with the words encircling her:
