Turnbull & Sons The firm was founded in 1850 by Charles Turnbull, who established himself in Jamaica Street, Glasgow. By the 1860s it was operating as Charles Turnbull & Sons, with his sons Robert and Charles continuing the business. Their studio at 10 Jamaica Street was described in a detailed 1888 business directory as a large, purpose-designed premises with multiple floors, studios capable of photographing large groups, and specialised rooms for different photographic processes and client needs.
