Henry Elis Leopold Brusewitz (c. 1855–1922) was a Swedish-born photographer who settled in Nelson, New Zealand. He and his wife, Alice Brusewitz, ran a successful photographic studio, initially on Waimea Street and later on Hardy Street, where they produced portraits, landscapes, and photographs of public events. The couple gained prominence for their glass plate photographs, many of which are preserved in the Nelson Provincial Museum. Alice was also a talented photographer, and many images long attributed to Henry may actually have been taken by her. Brusewitz remained active until the early 1900s and died in Nelson in 1922.
