History PDL: PDL was founded in Christchurch in 1937 as Plastic & Die Casting Ltd., acquired by Sir Robertson Stewart in 1957 and renamed PDL Industries. The company developed into a major international manufacturer of electrical products. It was known for innovation, quality products, and the famous “PDL Mustang” racing car. In 2001, the company was acquired by the global corporation Schneider Electric
