Kendell is a New Zealand fashion name with roots in the country’s long-standing clothing and textile manufacturing industry. Records show Kendell and Co. operating in Auckland from at least the 1930s, producing clothing for the New Zealand market.
The company later became associated with distinctive printed garments. In the 1970s, New Zealand textile designer Frank Carpay worked with R Kendell and Co Ltd, creating bold graphic prints for fashionable polyester knit garments that found an audience in both New Zealand and Australia.
