The issue also documents the rapid growth of Richmond, college sports involving Nelson and Nayland Colleges, Waimea Old Boys’ rugby success, weddings and engagements, and a colourful masquerade party held by the Nelson Operatic Society while preparing its production of Showboat. Local industrial development, including a new bulk bitumen plant at Port Nelson, is also recorded.
