History bar towels: Mid-1900s (1930s–1970s): During the six o’clock swill era (1917–1967), bars were extremely busy, and towels were essential for quick glass turnover and spill control. Branded brewery towels also became popular as promotional items.
1970s–1990s: Breweries such as Lion and DB widely produced branded beer towels, serving both practical use behind the bar and as marketing tools.
