History BG: On its current website, BG states that it has over 80 years of experience in the manufacture and distribution of electrical installation materials. This would place the company’s roots back to the 1930s/1940s, at least for the brand’s predecessor. BG primarily produced installation materials (switches, sockets), protective circuits, portable power supplies, etc. The brand historically operated under the name British General Manufacturing Co Ltd (sometimes simply “British General”) and later as “British General / BG”.
