Vintage Butterscotch Phenolic Lidded Box – Made in England, Art Deco 1930s–40s (SANT-029)

Description: A vintage butterscotch-toned Bakelite-type phenolic lidded box, marked “Made in England” and dating to the 1930s–40s. Featuring a subtle grained pattern and classic Art Deco styling, this piece is a charming example of early molded plastic design, often associated with Catalin collectibles.

Condition: Good vintage condition, showing typical age-related wear. The surface has light scratches and minor scuffing consistent with use over the decades. Slight darkening and natural oxidation is visible around the edges and recessed areas, typical of aged Bakelite. Fine grained lines are part of the original material and not damage. The scalloped lid fits securely, with no cracks or chips. The “Made in England” marking on the base remains clear and intact, confirming its authenticity as a 1930s–40s Art Deco phenolic piece.
