History of GEC: GEC was founded in 1886 by Gustav Binswanger (later Gustav Byng) and Hugo Hirst as a wholesaler of electrical goods. In 1887, it published the first catalog in the electrical industry. The next year, GEC opened its first factory to produce telephones, electric bells, ceiling roses, and switches. Early on, the company pioneered using porcelain as an insulating material in switches—a major innovation of its time.
Please note: Our electrical items are vintage items and are sold as collector’s pieces.
