History of Lansing Buttons: The history of buttons in Lansing, Iowa, began in 1897 with the button production of retired steamboat captain Jeremiah Turner, who initially focused on producing clamshell blanks for other factories. The company became the Turner Button Co., later the Lansing Co., and eventually a major distributor. Over the decades, the company adapted, manufacturing toys during World War II and later merging with other companies before the factory closed in 2016 following its acquisition by CSS Industries due to transportation issues.
