How to Make Pipe Cleaner Flowers

Make your own colourful pipe cleaner flowers with this easy craft activity for children. Using just a few pipe cleaners and some fine wire or thread, you can create pretty flowers to decorate your room or give as a handmade gift.

What you need:

• 1 green pipe cleaner for the stem
• 4 coloured pipe cleaners for the petals
• Fine wire or thread to attach the petals

Bend the green pipe cleaner in half to make the stem.

Cut each coloured pipe cleaner in half.

Bend each piece in half to make a petal. Twist the ends together slightly to hold the petal in shape.

Attach each petal separately to the green stem, about 5 mm below the top. Use fine wire or thread to wrap each petal securely to the stem.

Leave a little extra wire or thread at the start. Keep wrapping the same wire or thread around the stem as you add each petal. Arrange the petals evenly around the stem as you go.

When all the petals are attached, twist the end of the wire around the starting end to secure it. If you are using thread, tie the ends together.

Bend the flower petals upwards and gently shape them to make your flower look beautiful.
