History MK Electric: The company was founded in Great Britain after the First World War: in 1919, Charles Arnold established the “Heavy Current Electrical Accessories Company,” in which Charles Belling was a partner. The company soon became known for its flagship product: the “Multy Kontact” socket. Eventually, the name was changed to MK Electric (MK = Multy Kontact). Among the company’s innovations was the first socket with integrated contact protection in 1928 (which increased safety by covering the live contacts when the plug was removed). The era of MK’s Bakelite-cased switches lasted from approximately the 1920s to the 1950s/60s, before newer plastics became prevalent.
