Landor light switches were British electrical fittings produced mainly between the 1920s and 1940s, commonly installed in early electrified homes. They typically feature a black Bakelite rocker set on a ceramic (porcelain) base, a combination valued for its durability and reliable electrical insulation. The Landor name is linked to products manufactured by the General Electric Company (GEC), a leading UK maker of electrical accessories in the early 20th century. Many examples have patent numbers moulded into the ceramic base, reflecting designs developed during the interwar period. Today, Landor switches are sought after for Art Deco and period home restorations, admired for their robust construction and distinctive vintage “click” action.
