History Crabtree: In 1919, J.A. Crabtree & Co. Ltd. was registered as a trading company in Walsall, Great Britain, and in August of the same year, production of Crabtree light switches began. Crabtree developed into a major manufacturer of electrical installation materials, with its switches from the 1950s often associated with the Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern design styles. Vintage Crabtree switches are considered an important part of industrial and design history, and although many are still functional, experts recommend having them restored to meet modern safety standards if they are to be used today.
