Cookies (Metric Version)
  • 1 egg

  • 400 g sugar

  • 240 ml sweet milk or cold water

  • 120 g butter

  • 120 g lard

  • 3 teaspoons cream of tartar (approx. 12 g)

  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda (sifted) (approx. 6 g)

  • Enough flour to stiffen (start with ~500 g and adjust as needed)

  • Spices to taste (e.g., cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice)

  • Additional sugar for sprinkling

Instructions
  1. Mix all ingredients, adding flour gradually until dough is stiff enough to roll.

  2. Roll out the dough and cut into shapes.

  3. Sprinkle with sugar.

  4. Bake in a hot oven (about 200°C / 392°F) until done.
