Cornish Patties (Metric Conversion)

  • 225 grams of buttock steak (or beef steak)

  • 225 grams of potatoes

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method:

  1. Chop the meat and potato into small pieces.

  2. Roll out some light plain pastry to a thickness of 6 mm (quarter of an inch).

  3. Cut the pastry into pieces about 15-18 cm (6-7 inches) square.

  4. Place a pile of the meat, potato, onion, salt, and pepper mixture in the center of each square.

  5. Fold the pastry over the filling and press the edges together with your fingers and thumb to seal.

  6. Bake in a steady oven (around 180°C / 350°F) for half an hour.
