Bachelor Buttons recipe converted to metric units

Ingredients:
  • 57 grams of butter (2 oz)

  • 142 grams of flour (5 oz)

  • 142 grams of white sugar (5 oz)

  • 1 egg

  • Almond flavoring (to taste)

  • Extra sugar for sprinkling

Instructions:
  1. Rub the butter into the flour and sugar.

  2. Beat the egg with half of the sugar, then combine with the other ingredients.

  3. Add almond flavoring to taste.

  4. Roll the dough into balls about the size of a large nut.

  5. Sprinkle with white sugar.

  6. Place on tins lined with buttered paper.

  7. Bake lightly until done (typically around 180°C for 10-12 minutes, though the original does not specify).
